Jones Low Price Drugs was a mainstay of the Spokane health care community for over 30 years. Mr. Ed Jones, a Registered Pharmacist, started Jones Low Price Drugs in 1971, after moving to Spokane from Ephrata, WA. Ed Jones catapulted Jones Low Price Drugs to national fame when he received the coveted “Bowl of Hygea” award from the American Pharmaceutical Association.
In 1978, Ed Jones passed away, unexpectedly, and his nephew, Mr. Ricker Jones, and Ms. Linda Garrelts-MacLean, Registered Pharmacist, assumed the business. The business continued to grow under the new partnership. Under the direction of Ms. Linda Garrelts-MacLean, the pharmacy department remained on the cutting edge of the pharmacy profession. The Pharmacy Times voted Ms. Garrelts-MacLean the “Most Influential Woman Pharmacist,” in 1997.
In August of 1986, Jones and Garrelts-MacLean purchased Chapin Drug, in Deer Park. The name was changed to reflect the Jones name. They continued their fine tradition of pharmacy and health care services for this north Spokane rural community.
In October 1999, Jones and Garrelts-MacLean sold both stores to Horizon Pharmacies, Inc. Two years later Horizon Pharmacies filed for Chapter 11.
In January 2002, Jones Pharmacy once again regained independent ownership when WD Evans, and K. Douglas Crafton, Registered Pharmacist, purchased Jones Pharmacy.
In July 0f 2005, Mr. WD Evans became the sole owner of Jones Pharmacy. The fine tradition of pharmacy and health care services has continued!
